Negroni

A three-ingredient stirred cocktail of gin, sweet vermouth, and Campari in equal parts — one of the most influential and adaptable cocktail templates.

The Negroni is equal parts gin (or AF gin), sweet vermouth (or AF vermouth), and Campari (or AF aperitif) — stirred with ice, strained over a large rock, expressed with an orange peel. It's one of the most perfectly balanced drinks ever created: bitter, sweet, herbal, and spirit-forward in exactly equal measure. The equal-parts format is also one of the most useful templates in cocktail making — change one ingredient and you have a new drink. Replace gin with whiskey and you have a Boulevardier. Replace Campari with Aperol and you have a paper-thin Negroni. The format accommodates almost infinite variation.
