What we collect

Email addresses. If you subscribe to the newsletter or ask us to email you a recipe, we store your email address and the date you signed up. That's the entire record. We use it to send you what you asked for. You can unsubscribe at any time by following the instructions in any email or by writing to hello@craftedaf.com, and we'll remove you promptly.

Anonymous usage data. When you use the recipe generator, we log the search itself (for example, "margarita" or a list of ingredients) along with an anonymous, one-way-hashed session identifier that rotates daily and cannot be traced back to you. We use this to understand what drinks and ingredients people are interested in so we can create better content. These logs contain no names, no email addresses, and no personally identifiable information, and we filter out anything that resembles personal information before it is stored.

Server logs. Like nearly every website, our hosting provider (DreamHost) keeps standard server logs, which may include IP addresses. We don't use them for tracking.

What we don't do

We do not sell, rent, or share your email address or any personal information with third parties for their marketing. We do not run third-party advertising networks. We do not use tracking cookies. The only cookie this site sets is a temporary session cookie on a private administrative page that visitors never encounter.

Emails we send

If you request a recipe by email, we send it once. If you subscribe to the newsletter, we send occasional editions. Every commercial email we send complies with CAN-SPAM: it identifies us, includes a working way to opt out, and opt-outs are honored promptly.

Third-party services

The recipe generator is powered by Anthropic's Claude API. Your search query is sent to Anthropic to generate the recipe and is subject to Anthropic's privacy policy. We don't send Anthropic anything about you other than the drink or ingredients you typed. Fonts are served by Google Fonts, which may log requests per Google's privacy policy.

Your rights

Want to know what we have about you, or want it deleted? Email hello@craftedaf.com. Given what's described above, the answer will be your email address and signup date, or nothing, and deletion takes one edit.

Crafted AF participates in affiliate programs, including the Amazon Associates program and Better Rhodes. When you buy something through links on this site, we may earn a commission at no additional cost to you. We only link to products we would genuinely recommend.

In the interest of full transparency: Crafted AF's founder is a partner in Better Rhodes, the alcohol-free retailer this site frequently links to, which also owns Seir Hill, the alcohol-free spirits brand he founded. We believe Better Rhodes is the best AF retailer available. We also believe you deserve to know we have a stake in saying so.

Terms of Use

Content. Everything on Crafted AF — recipes, articles, definitions, photography, and the "Why This Works" analyses — is original content owned by Crafted AF. You're welcome to share links, quote brief excerpts with attribution, and make every drink on the site. Republishing whole recipes or articles without permission isn't allowed.

Recipes and products. Our recipes and product notes are provided in good faith for home use. Check product labels yourself, particularly if you avoid alcohol entirely: products marketed as "non-alcoholic" may legally contain trace amounts of alcohol (up to 0.5% ABV in the US), and formulations change. If you have allergies, dietary restrictions, or are in recovery, the label on the bottle in your hand is the authority, not this site.

The AI recipe generator creates recipes automatically. We've built it carefully, but generated recipes are suggestions, not tested editorial content, and common sense applies.

No warranties. The site is provided as-is. We work hard to keep everything accurate and available, but we can't guarantee either, and we aren't liable for how you use what you find here.
