RTD, short for ready-to-drink, refers to a cocktail or mixed drink sold pre-made in a can or bottle, ready to open and pour over ice. The format has exploded across the whole drinks industry, and alcohol-free RTDs are one of its fastest-growing corners: canned spritzes, pre-batched alcohol-free Negronis, and functional sparkling drinks all live here. An RTD trades the control and freshness of a made-to-order cocktail for speed and convenience.
Why It Matters
RTDs are how most people first meet alcohol-free drinks in the wild, at a shop or a party. Knowing the format helps you shop it well and understand the tradeoff: convenience for control. A canned AF spritz is genuinely useful, but it will never quite match a fresh one you build yourself, which is the reason this site exists.
