Non-Alcoholic Gin & Tonic

Ingredients

Looking for the alcohol-free spirits? I shop Better Rhodes. It's the best AF selection I've found.

The Proportions

  • 2¾ oz Alcohol-Free Gin
  • 4¾ oz Tonic water
  • To fill Ice
  • Garnish Lime wedge

How to Make It

  1. Fill a highball or large wine glass with ice.
  2. Add the alcohol-free gin.
  3. Top slowly with tonic water, pouring down the side to keep the bubbles.
  4. Squeeze in the lime and drop it in. Stir once, gently.

Why This Works

The Gin and Tonic is the drink that made botanical spirits famous, and it works because the two halves complete each other. Gin brings juniper, citrus, and herbal complexity; tonic brings quinine bitterness and effervescence. Neither is quite a drink on its own, but together they lock into balance. With alcohol-free gin, the botanicals do all the work the alcohol used to, so a good bottle really matters here.

Tonic quality is half the drink. Premium tonic has cleaner sweetness and a more pronounced bitter quinine note than the syrupy supermarket kind, and in a two-ingredient drink that difference is everything. Build it in the glass, add the tonic last, and stir only once to keep it lively.

The Alcohol-Free Swap

Alcohol-free gin is where the AF category shines earliest, because gin was always about botanicals more than burn. A juniper-forward bottle makes this drink sing.
