How to Make It

  1. Add all ingredients to a shaker with ice.
  2. Shake thoroughly until well chilled.
  3. Strain into a hurricane glass or large tumbler over fresh ice.
  4. Garnish with orange and lime slices.

Why This Works

Punch is the oldest formula in the book: sour, sweet, strong, weak. This one maps the tradition exactly — lime for sour, grenadine for sweet, rum for strong, and the pineapple and orange juices playing the 'weak' role that stretches and softens everything.

The two juices were chosen because they disagree productively. Pineapple brings sharpness and a slightly funky tropical edge; orange brings roundness and body. Either alone is one-dimensional. Together they create the layered fruit character that makes punch taste generous.

A quarter ounce of grenadine seems almost too small to matter, but real pomegranate grenadine is doing color and depth work, not just sweetness. It's the difference between a punch that looks and tastes intentional and one that tastes like the juice aisle.

The Alcohol-Free Swap

Alcohol-Free Rum brings molasses and sugarcane depth to the fruit juices — rich enough to feel like the real thing.
