About this course
By now you understand why drinks work and you have a bar to build them in. This course puts both to use on the drinks everyone actually knows: the Negroni, the Margarita, the Old Fashioned, the Mojito.
Rather than hand you recipes one at a time, it teaches a method for reverse-engineering any classic, then applies it family by family. Learn the four families and you can rebuild the overwhelming majority of famous cocktails, plus anything else you feel like drinking.
It is free and text-based, and every lesson links straight into the recipes on the rest of the site so you can go make what you are reading about.
The lessons
- 1 How to Reverse-Engineer a Cocktail The method for taking any classic apart and rebuilding it without alcohol.
- 2 Rebuilding the Sours The base-citrus-sweet template behind the Whiskey Sour, Daiquiri, and Margarita, and how to nail it without alcohol.
- 3 Rebuilding the Spirit-Forward Classics The Old Fashioned, Negroni, and Manhattan: the hardest drinks to rebuild, because the alcohol was doing almost everything.
- 4 Rebuilding the Highballs & Spritzes The easy wins: long, fizzy drinks like the Gin & Tonic, Mojito, Paloma, and Spritz, where the alcohol was doing the least.
- 5 Rebuilding the Tropical & Creamy Rich, textured drinks like the Piña Colada and Hurricane, where the challenge is body and mouthfeel, not backbone.
