Everleaf has launched Forest Chipotle Hot Honey, the first limited edition in its non-alcoholic aperitif range, made in partnership with the sauce maker JD's Hot Honey. It layers the bittersweet botanicals the brand is known for, saffron, Madagascan vanilla, and honeyed orange blossom, against smoked chipotle and hot honey for a sweet-and-spicy profile the brand calls swicy. It comes in 500ml bottles as a limited run, with a signature serve, the Picante Spritz, of one part aperitif to three parts soda or lemonade over ice, finished with orange and a slice of jalapeno.
The framing matters as much as the flavor. Everleaf pitched this squarely at bartenders and cocktail enthusiasts who want to experiment, and shaped the debut around a spritz build rather than a sipping pour. It is a non-alcoholic aperitif designed first and foremost to go into a drink.
The Cr(af)ted Take
A limited-edition aperitif is a small thing that says something larger. Seasonal and limited releases are the behavior of a confident category, one that assumes customers are engaged enough to chase a new expression rather than needing to be convinced the core product is worth buying at all. Alcohol brands have run on limited editions forever. Non-alcoholic brands doing the same is a sign of maturity, not gimmickry.
What we like most is that it was built to be mixed. The gap between a non-alcoholic spirit that is merely inoffensive on its own and one that actually builds a great drink is the whole ballgame, and a sweet-spicy aperitif with a defined spritz serve is squarely in cocktail territory. Everleaf is not selling the absence of alcohol here. It is selling a specific, interesting flavor to put in a glass, which is exactly the right thing to be selling.
